One of the last big purchases we needed to make before Garrett arrived was a camcorder.  I knew I wanted it to be small and lightweight and be able to quickly start filming so we wouldn’t  miss any action and I knew I wanted HD.

We used our Wal-Mart gift cards that we got from the baby shower and I got the Panasonic HDC-SD9.

So far I’m pretty happy with the purchase.  It films in 1920x1080, has a 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound microphone, can pre-record, is ready to record in .6 seconds, has 10x optical zoom and 700x digital zoom, has optical image stabilization, face detection, and a 2.7:” screen.  It records on a SD card and it even came with an 8GB SD card that will hold 1 hour and 22 minutes on the highest resolution or over 3 hours on low resolution.  It also came with some decent video editing software too.

I can’t wait to start posting some videos.  Stay tuned.
